Motorcycle Unit

Madison Police Departments has operated a motorcycle unit since the 1920s.
The unit operates two 2015 Harley Davidson Road King Police Motorcycles with five officers assigned to the squad.

Responsibilities

Although the motorcycle officers will enforce motor vehicle laws, the primary emphasis is community policing and special events. The motor officers will make every effort to ride into neighborhoods, schools and the central business district in an effort to meet with members of the community on a personal basis.The motor officers will also provide escorts and work parade assignments.

Current Officers

The Motor Officers are Lieutenant John Miscia, Lieutenant Joseph Longo, Sergeant James Cavezza, Sergenat Craig Perrelli and Detective Kenneth Shannon. This extensive riding course trains officers in every aspect of police motorcycle patrol riding. Motor officers are trained in every conceivable urban/suburban riding, patrolling, enforcement and even riding/shooting scenario.
