The Madison Electric Department is committed more than ever to providing quality power to our customers. For more than 100 years, the Madison Electric Department has been and will continue to be a "home town" utility, providing customers with reliable and safe electrical service.

The Madison Electric Department consists of a workforce that live either in Madison or in close proximity of Madison, which enables us to respond quickly to a customer’s problems. In an emergency, we take exceptional pride in a quick response time and restoration of customer’s power, and go out of the way to make sure customers are satisfied. The crew is dedicated, experienced, well trained, and are continually looking for ways to improve reliability. 

The Madison Electric Department is prepared for and willing to meet any challenge to insure that customers have and will continue to have the finest electric service in the state of New Jersey. The Electric Department is comprised of 8 people. Regular duties include:

  • Distribution circuits-maintenance and system reinforcement.
  • Installation of meters and upgrading of services drops.
  • Repairing and replacing defective street lighting.
  • Substation maintenance.
  • Emergency and storm restoration.
