Vaccination Information

Vaccination Information

One of the public health responsibilities of Madison Health Department is annual review of immunization records for all students attending childcare, preschool or elementary/high school in the municipalities served by MHD. This includes public and private facilities.

Rates of vaccinated children in these settings in our area are high; most children are vaccinated. Recent news of vaccine preventable disease outbreaks in neighboring states and in some NJ counties serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vaccinating - children and adults - and the reality of disease spread.

Measles virus in particular is highly contagious. Families planning to travel internationally with infants six through eleven months of age are advised to check with their primary care provider about MMR (measles/mumps/rubella) vaccination for their child prior to travel.
