The Borough of Madison is always working to improve infrastructure for the services that are provided to our residents.
The Water and Electric Department of the Borough of Madison is currently in the process of upgrading its utility metering and billing infrastructure. These new RF meters will allow the Borough to read the meter without walking onto your property.
You will receive a notice at your house multiple days before your meter is scheduled to be replaced. This replacement requires a very temporary interruption of service (1-2 minutes). Crews will be making these changes Mondays through Fridays, from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. If you are home at the time of the meter replacement, a representative from the Borough of Madison will knock on your door to alert you in person before the interruption of service. However, it is important to note, you do not need to be home for the meter replacement to take place.
Please note that all representatives from the Borough of Madison will be wearing and properly displaying their identification cards.
If there is a situation wherein you cannot lose power on short notice, e.g. an oxygen tank or work computer in use, or if you have any questions or concerns, please immediately contact the Water and Electric Department at 973-593-3045.
Thank you very much for your cooperation as we work to upgrade infrastructure throughout Madison.
