MADISON ‑ Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Politics on the Public Mind has revised and expanded its schedule of speakers for its spring series, “Law and Society,” which will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Library at the College at Florham, 285 Madison Ave.
The lineup of speakers as of Jan. 25 includes:
Feb. 8: David Rosen, author of “Armies of the Young: Child Soldiers in War and Terrorism,” will present “Child Soldiers and International Law;”
Feb. 15: Roger Koppl, author of “Big Players and the Economic Theory of Expectations” and director of the Institute for Forensic Science Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University, will speak on “Forensic Science and Criminal Law;”
Feb. 22: Robert A. Bianchi, Morris County Prosecutor, will discuss “The Proscutor’s Office in the 21st Century;”
March 1: Donald Coburn, former trial and appellate judge in the New Jersey court system, will present “Judicial Selection and Judicial Activism;”
March 8: Lucy Dalglish, executive director of the Reporter’s Committee for Freedom of the Press, will speak on “Shield Laws and the Press;”
March 22: Bruce Baron, attorney and legal commentator for Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, and Court TV, will present “The Media’s Influence on Law in the 21st Century;”
March 29: Thomas Weisert, chief of staff for state Assemblyman Jay Webber, R-Morris, the state chairman of the Republican Party, will present “The New Jersey Supreme Court: New Directions in Policy and Personnel;”
April 5: Gabriel Sawma, attorney and author of “The Qur’an: Misinterpreted, Mistranslated, and Misread: The Aramaic Language of the Qur’an;” will speak on “Islamic Shari’a in Theory and Practice;
April 12: Irene Thomson, author of “Culture Wars and Enduring American Dilemmas,” will discuss “Challenging the Assumptions of a Deeply Divided American Society’”
April 19: Bruce Peabody, editor and author of “The Politics of Judicial Independence,” will present “Televising the Least Accountable Branch.”
