27-Oct-2005 Thursday 7:30 pm. The Treasures of Ridgedale Avenue, Speaker: Meredith Bzdak, Architectural researcher for the Bottle Hill Historic District. Location Grace Episcopal Church (parking in rear).
10-Nov-2005 Thursday 7:30 pm. The Nuts & Bolts of Historic & Conservation Easements, co-sponsored by the Madison Historical Society and the Madison Open Space, Recreation, & Historic Preservation Committee. Location: Hartley Dodge Memorial, 2nd floor planning board room.
23-Mar-2006 Thursday 7:00 pm. A Celebration Of Black History In Madison Why and when did the black community begin in Madison. Where did they come from and what did they do when they came. How did the Black Community then develop into vital business owners in Madison. The program will include a speaker and six panelists who were part of the story of the local black entrepreneur. This event is an exciting outreach program as Drew University’s African Studies classes under Dr. Lillie Edward, head of the Department and Dr. Jo Anne Murphy, teaching a Black Entrepreneurship Class, will be working with the Historical Society. 20-Apr-2006 Thursday 7:30 pm The Vietnam War Era An oral history documentary developed by Madison High School students from footage gathered during student interviews of local individuals involved in the Vietnam War era. Location: Chase Room at The Madison Public Library.

Dinner Meeting and Program at the Madison Hotel, Convent Station 6:00 pm. Cash
bar with piano entertainment by the talented Larry Ripley followed by dinner and
the program, Generations of Jazz. Presented by the New Jersey Jazz
Society and narrated by Stan Myers, Generations of Jazz is a musical
history under the guidance of Director, Rio Clemente, and swings its way through
the origins and evolution of jazz in a way that captivates the audience ending
with the very active jazz scene in Madison. This presentation kicks off the
Sanofi-Aventis JazzFest week, which is New Jersey’s oldest jazz festival.
The New Jersey Jazz Society is proud to announce that the funding for
Generations of Jazz is made possible in part by funds from the Arts Council
of the Morris Area through the New Jersey Council on the Arts/Department of
State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
The cost of the dinner and program is $45 per person and is open to the public.
Reservations may be made by sending a check made out to the Madison Historical
Society, and sent to P.O. Box 148, Madison, New Jersey 07940. A place card at
the door will be your ticket. Reservations should be in by May 18th.
