The Madison Area YMCA Soccer Club was established as a
club to attract players with a desire and love for the game, players that are
from Madison as well as the surrounding towns. We as a club are determined to
adhere to the values created by the YMCA, as well as the guidelines developed by
the United States Soccer Federation. These are the following objectives created
by the club:
- Development of each
child as an athlete and an individual using soccer as the means to accomplish
this.
- Make sure each player
learns the necessary skills and concepts associated with the game.
- Challenge each player
to make sure they are working to achieve their own potential.
- Teaching the children
proper fitness and health to keep their bodies working efficiently.
- Compete at a high level
of competition to enhance players’ abilities and dedication.
- Teach children to
understand the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and
Responsibility.
- Teach good
sportsmanship in relationship to teammates, coaches, opposing players and game
officials
The philosophies that were created by the
Sports Program are to ensure growth as an individual in team sports. These core
values are an intricate part of our club, they teach young players how to play
the game and treat it with respect. It is important to remember the guidelines:
- Coaches give each child
equal time and teach them all aspects of the game.
- Each child should have
ample playing time in a game, however it is up to the coach to determine the
actual playing time for each player.
- Have an open
communication between coaches, players and parents to help the child
achievement.
- Parents are encouraged
to talk with coaches and/or Program Directors with questions, concerns or
problems, especially the parents representatives from each team.
- We want our parents to
understand that we are here for the children to learn, have fun and enjoy the
games.
- Coaches, players and
parents follow the SAGE (Set A Good Example) guidelines of Youth Sports.
