Our Objective

The objective of our school is to provide a stimulating and enjoyable educational environment for our students. The uniqueness and individuality of every child is recognized. Emphasis is placed on providing a secure, creative, and caring atmosphere in which to guide them toward positive social interactions, emotional maturity, the ability to accept limits, and tolerance and acceptance of others. The staff and parents are dedicated to helping each child reach his or her full potential — intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. In addition to varied classroom activities and educational experiences, the Co-op provides wonderful enrichment programs. Some of these exciting events include classroom exhibits from the Morris Museum, Tiny Tot Concerts, and field trips.

Our Approach
Parental Involvement – An Essential Ingredient

Both our teaching staff and parents play an essential role in the educational process. Parents are expected to serve as a classroom assistant on a regular, rotating basis as well as volunteer for one of a variety of work committees. Although only one parent is required to help in the classroom, both parents are expected to join a committee. The classroom participation allows parents to observe and join in learning activities and social situations. Most importantly, parents have a chance to be part of these very special moments in their child's life.

General Information

The Madison Cooperative Nursery School is a not-for-profit, nonsectarian, inter-racial, and fully certified school. The Co-op is run by two governing bodies (The Board of Trustees and Board of Directors), the School Director, the teaching staff, and the parents of currently enrolled children. The Board of Trustees is made up of nine members who serve a three year term. Their goal is to provide guidance in running the co-op. The Board of Directors is elected yearly from parents of currently enrolled students and is responsible for the daily operations of the school. The School Director and the teaching staff work closely together to provide the best possible learning environment for the children. Parents of currently enrolled children form all of the working committees and are also voting members of the school.
