The Madison Public Library has a variety of materials useful for people who are learning to read, preparing for the GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exams, or seeking to improve their written or spoken English language skills.

These materials include books, audiocassettes and videotapes. The audiocassettes may be borrowed only by those with Madison Library cards. In addition, there are "reference" books which are for in-library use only and cannot be charged out. The other materials may be borrowed by any patron with a valid library card from a cooperating library.

In the listings that follow, the first part of the entry is the library call number. Books are shelved in the order of these numbers in the main adult section of the library. Ask a librarian at the reference desk for assistance in selecting audiocassettes and videotapes.

Feel free to ask us for assistance in finding information on any other topic as well.
