National Night Out 2008
On August 5, 2008 residents of Madison along with the Madison Police Department celebrated National Night Out. The annual event partners local law enforcement agencies and their respective communities against crime. The event is designed to accomplish the following goals:

Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;

strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
-
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Madison Police Department was represented by Patrol Officers, Detectives and Auxiliary Police, the Motor Unit and Emergency Services Unit. Other agencies that participated in the event included The New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit, New Jersey Transit Police, SPCA, Livingston Police Motor Unit and the Newark Police Department.
