The Chief of Police is
responsible for the management of the Madison Police Department. He has
the duty to provide the populace of Madison with a professional and
community oriented police department. The Officers under his charge are
dedicated in providing a safe and secure community for Madison
residents.
The
Chief is the Police Department’s liaison between the Mayor and Council
and all borough department heads. On a daily basis the Chief maintains
constant communication between the Department’s Superior Officers and
Administrative Staff, which includes the Administrative Secretaries,
Captain and the Lieutenants who are assigned to their various divisions.
The Chief develops and writes Rules and Regulations and Policy for the
Police Department.
The Chief researches and
submits resolutions, ordinances regarding public safety to the Mayor and
Council for review and adoption. The
Chief is also the liaison between all federal, county and state
agencies.
As
Emergency Management Coordinator, the Chief works with borough, county
and state officials during local, county and state domestic emergencies.
The
Chief has the responsibility to require each Officer to complete and
attend the standards of training required by the State Attorney General
and the Morris County Prosecutor.
