The Traffic Safety
Division manned by Sergeant John
Keymer is
responsible for investigating all serious and fatal motor vehicle accidents.
In addition, they maintain computerized traffic and speed counts on
Borough
roadways, and work in conjunction with Borough Officials on problem
areas within the community. Other duties involve coordination with
construction companies on all Borough construction projects and handling
any traffic related complaints within the Borough. The Traffic Safety Division also conducts the
child safety seat program, alcoholic awareness programs given to high
school and college students, bicycle safety programs and an award-winning
seatbelt program for pre-school children (up to grade one). The Division
also maintains, trains and supervises all school crossing guards. The
Police Department also maintains a School Resource Officer for all schools
and the DARE Program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in the elementary
schools.
