Health Department, Part Time Deputy Registrar/Administrative Assistant
The Madison Health Department is accepting applications for a part-time Deputy Registrar/Administrative Assistant position. This individual will be under the direction of the Registrar of Vital Statistics and the work week will consist of 22.5 hours, days and time to be determined. Salary is $20,767.50. No benefits. The applicant must hold a valid New Jersey Driver’s License and CMR certification (ability to obtain CMR within 6 months acceptable).
Responsibilities will include a variety of the following:
Issuing dog/cat licenses, issuing retail food and other related licenses, maintaining necessary records and files, handling mail and banking; ordering supplies; preparing purchase requisitions, issuing certified copies of all vital records in addition to all other registrar responsibilities. This position is also required to assist the Board of Health secretary in preparing for meetings and other correspondence with potential for limited coverage of Board meetings in the Secretary’s absence.
Ideal candidate qualities include the ability to work independently and serve the public and colleagues in a professional, friendly manner, have strong verbal and written communication skills; show experience with technical and administrative work; and must be dependable, disciplined, flexible and detail oriented.

2015 Summer Help
The Borough of Madison is accepting summer help applications for the 2015 Summer season for positions in the Public Works Department, Engineering Department and general office support for various departments. Positions involve M-F hrs. Salary is $9.00 per hour. PW applicants must have a valid NJ Driver’s License. Employment is expected to start mid May/June 2015. Health Educator/Part Time:
The Madison Health Department is currently seeking a Masters prepared Health Educator for a part time consultant position of 15 hours per week at $35 per hour (no benefits) from April 1st through October 31st with potential for a permanent part time position of up to 28 hours per week beginning November 1, 2015. The applicant must hold a valid New Jersey Driver’s License and CHES certification (can be in process of obtaining). Bilingual (Spanish) preferred and multiple licensing/certifications a plus (RN, REHS, Healthy Bones, Matter of Balance, etc).
Responsibilities will include a variety of the following:Strategic Planning and Evaluation; Grant Writing; Public Health Intern Supervision (project identification, selection); Municipal Alliance (staffing and program development, oversight of programs and grant); Chronic disease (prevention/management programs, leader training, supervision, reporting); Employee health and wellness programs; Mayors Wellness Campaign (program development, support); Communicable Disease (education, outreach); Partnerships and Collaborations (municipal and regional for a variety of public health issues and concerns); Publicity and outreach (various formats, target populations).
Ideal candidate qualities include the ability to work independently and as part of a team with a wide variety of people; have strong verbal and written communication skills; creative problem solver with good organization skills; and must be dependable, disciplined, flexible and detail oriented.
