Library Board of Trustees consists of 7-9 members appointed by the Mayor confirmed by the Borough Council. Library Trustees are appointed for a five-year term. The Mayor and Superintendent of Schools are ex-officio; either may appoint an alternate. The Board of Trustees is the policy-making body for the Madison Public Library. By state law it holds in trust and manages all property of the library. The Board holds monthly public meetings (except August).
