Madison is also home to two colleges, and three corporate world headquarters. The
department operates out of one firehouse, located on the Green Avenue
side of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building. The department operates three
engines, an aerial ladder truck, and a walk-in rescue vehicle.
Firefighters respond to 800-850 incidents per year. These include not only
fires, but many different calls, including alarm activations, motor
vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, natural gas leaks, pump outs, and carbon monoxide alarm
activations. Firefighters and apparatus respond to the scene of most
incidents in town, in under three minutes. The department is trained
and serves the area in Confined Space and Trench Collapse Rescue.
