Construction has commenced at the Southeast corner of Kings Road and Prospect Street, for the new home of Fire & Police Facility for the Borough of Madison. The result of a fourteen year study, the new Fire & Police Facility will replace the current quarters at the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building, where the Police and Fire Departments have been quartered since 1935. The Hartley Dodge Memorial Building will undergo major renovation to accommodate the borough court and other municipal offices. The new facility was designed by Holt Morgan Russell of Princeton New Jersey and will cost approximately $11 million dollars. The new building will give the Police and Fire Department over 37,000 square feet of space compared to 9,000 at the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building. The construction contract was awarded to Eastern Builders of Hazlet New Jersey. Construction is expected to last 16 months. A progress report will be made available on this website as construction moves forward. |
