18 Maple Avenue ~ June 13th 2006 At 14:07hrs Fire Headquarters dispatched a general alarm for smoke in the the house at 18 Maple Avenue. Perth Amboy Ladder 2 was on-hand, providing a demonstration of their recently acquired E-One aerial platform. P.A.F.D. Ladder 2 responded as the first due truck.	PHOTO BY KYLE WICKMAN MADISON F.D.
Chief Atchison arrived on scene and assumed command. Engine 2 reported a smoke condition on the first and second floors. Further investigation found a fire in the basement. Engine 2's crew stretched a hose line to the rear of the structure with assistance from members of P.A.F.D. ladder 2. The small fire, which was caused by oily rags placed in a garbage can, was extinguished quickly.

Ridgedale Avenue, Hanover Township ~ May 13th 2006 At 18:27hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a call from the Hanover Township Police Department requesting a FAST team response to Cedar Knolls. Madison firefighters assisted the Cedar Knolls and Whippany Fire Departments upon arrival. None of the occupants were injured, but a family dog died in the blaze.	PHOTO BY ROBERT DUNNE MADISON F.D.


PHOTO BY ROB DUNNE MADISON F.D.	Madison & Chatham Joint Meeting ~ May 9th 2006 On May 9th 2006, the Madison Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team conducted a training drill at the Madison-Chatham Joint Meeting Sewer Plant in Chatham. Various types of rigging and rescue operations were performed.

Greenwood Avenue ~ July 30th 2005 At 10:32hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a call reporting a motor vehicle accident in front of 63 Greenwood Avenue. Arriving fire units found a two vehicle accident with one vehicle into the home. The car had taken out a corner support column for the home during the collision. Fire units built a support brace for the building and were then able to remove the vehicle. Both drivers of the vehicles were transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital hospital for treatment. Vernon Court, Livingston ~ June 23rd 2005 At 14:26hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a mutual aid request to assist at a trench collapse in Livingston NJ. The department trench rescue team responded. Upon arrival, assisted the Livingston, Cedar Grove, and Roseland Fire Departments, as well as other various emergency agencies. The trench team utilized the Paratech air struts to help shore the trench and remove the victim. The victim was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Pomeroy Road ~ March 27th 2005 At 05:13hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a call reporting a structure fire at 49 Pomeroy Road. Arriving fire units found heavy fire in the rear of the home. The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage to the first and second floors. All of the occupants had exited the home safely and no injuries were reported. The fire was caused by a faulty heating appliance on the first floor. The all-hands fire brought mutual aid from the Florham Park, Morris Township, and Cedar Knolls fire departments. Park Avenue ~ February 17th 2005 At 17:01 hours, Madison Fire Headquarters received a call for a possible car fire at the intersection of Park Avenue and Chateau Thierry Avenue. Engine 2 was first due on scene and firefighters quickly knocked down the engine compartment fire. Investigation found that a mechanical failure ignited the fire. None of the occupants were injured.

Rosedale Avenue February 12th 2005 At 04:36hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a report of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Rosedale Avenue near Valley Road. Upon arrival, found a one car motor vehicle accident with the driver of the vehicle entrapped in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Firefighters removed the vehicle's roof and passenger side door to extricate the victim. The victim was then transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Dodge Drive ~ August 11th 2004 At 10:28hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters was notified by Madison Police of a trench collapse at the Giralda Farms Corporate Complex on Dodge Drive. A drainage trench had given way, burying a Construction worker chest high in quicksand-like sediment. Rescue 4, Tower 1, & Trench Unit 1 were automatically dispatched in addition to Mutual Aid from Morris Township & Cedar Knolls Fire Departments and a recall of all off-duty personnel. The victim was removed utilizing a sling under the his arms. He was transported by Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Morristown Memorial Hospital with multiple fractures and a severely broken right leg.

Route 24 ~ July 9th 2004 At 20:01hrs, Madison Fire HQ's received a report of a motor vehicle accident, Route 24 Eastbound by the Greenwood Ave. Bridge. Engine 2 & Rescue 4 arrived on scene to find a 5000-gallon septic tank truck involved in a single vehicle accident. The truck had blew a tire and driven up the highway embankment and collided with the Greenwood Avenue overpass. The driver was removed from the truck by Fire and EMS personnel and transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Approximately 2000 gallons of sewage was dispersed along the highway and the street above, while the tank remained half full. Whippany F.D Haz-Mat Team and the Morris County Haz-Mat Team provided assistance. The New Jersey State Police contacted a septic tank Co. to remove the remainder of the sewage from the tank. Greenwood Avenue & Ridgedale Avenue ~ May 10th 2004 At 06:46hrs, Madison Fire Headquarters received a request for mutual aid from Florham Park for a structure fire. An electric work light dropped into gasoline cans at the Exxon gas station on the corner of Ridgedale and Greenwood Avenues, causing a fire as the owner was preparing to open the station. The cans held gasoline that had been taken out of the tank in the owner's truck, which was under repair inside the gas station's garage. The fire completely destroyed the gas station's garage, totaled the truck and damaged the adjacent office Madison firefighters are shown venting the roof. Whippany & East Hanover Fire Departments also assisted the Florham Park Fire Department.
