Sports Fields Parking Lot Notice

Sports Fields access improvements by the Borough of Madison at the former Bayley Ellard fields (near Danforth Rd) includes parking lot construction within the next few weeks, weather conditions permitting. The project includes an element of remediation which will result in greater public access to the fields due to an NJDEP soil classification as historic fill. The improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary. The program has been the subject of public discussion and the construction contract documents are available in the office of the Borough Engineer for review during regular business hours, or on the municipal website, should additional information be desired. The Borough of Madison has awarded a contract to the following General Contractor : TILCON NY The General Contractor will coordinate with residents in the immediate vicinity of work to minimize inconvenience. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction, anticipated to be two months in duration. This will minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Parking restrictions will be enforced by the Police Department during construction if vehicles impede construction progress. Pedestrians will be encouraged to reroute clear of the construction zone and sections of public property may be closed temporarily to preserve safety for the public. Green Ave Reconstruction Notice

Green Ave Reconstruction is scheduled to begin by October 1st by General Contractor Cifelli and Son as a result of public bidding this past summer. The Green Ave Improvements (Shunpike to Woodland) include state funding participation. A pavement mill and overlay will be completed with improved drainage, curb, sidewalk, signage and striping for the entire length. The improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary. The program has been the subject of multiple public hearings and the construction contract documents are available in the office of the Borough Engineer for review during regular business hours, or on the municipal website, should additional information be desired. Affected residents may expect separate contacts from the General Contractor during the course of the project and he will coordinate with residents in the immediate vicinity of work to minimize inconvenience. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction to relocate the vehicles you intend to use on days in which the contractor is active in your immediate vicinity. This will minimize interruption of construction work, avoid limiting your entry/exit on certain days and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Parking restrictions will be enforced by the Police Department during construction if vehicles impede construction progress. Pedestrians will be encouraged to reroute clear of the construction zone and sections of road may be closed to preserve safety for the public. Overnight parking enforcement may be waived by the Police Department in areas where driveway access is temporarily blocked (we anticipate affected driveway access restored within several days). Specific advance construction or scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance. Park Ave at Ridgedale Ave

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to the final phase of the water main construction project on Ridgedale Avenue, and a required connection on Park Avenue, two nights are required for construction at the Park/Ridgedale intersection to alleviate traffic concerns on Park Ave. Ridgedale Avenue between Walnut Street and Park Avenue will be closed and only accessible to local traffic. Park Ave traffic will be maintained where possible.

Ridgedale Traffic Restrictions

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to a water main construction project on Ridgedale Avenue running behind schedule, a regional detour plan has been designed for the month of September which will affect those traveling to the High School and the Central Avenue School. Ridgedale Avenue between Burnet Road and Park Avenue will be closed and only accessible to local traffic. High School Parents/Students: Expect detours in the area. Travel to the High School by using Central Avenue or Burnet Road. The area of the High School will not be occupied by the water main contractor after the opening of school, however the County of Morris may perform a two day paving project on Ridgedale Avenue (north of Central Avenue) within the next 60 days (exact date unknown). Central Avenue School Parents: Expect detours in the area. Access to Walnut Street will be severely limited. Greenwood Avenue or Brittin Street are the preferred drop-off and pickup locations for the duration of the Ridgedale Avenue Water Main project. It is encouraged that students walk or ride a bicycle to school where possible. A police officer will be on-site during morning receiving hours and afternoon discharge hours at those preferred locations to assist crossing guards with any traffic issues. 2013 Water Main Replacement Program

This year’s Water Main Replacement Program by the Borough of Madison (Water Department) includes construction work in Ridgedale Avenue in July and August. The improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary. The Borough of Madison awarded the construction contract to GARCIA CONSTRUCTION__973-773-4544 (General Utility Contractor). You may expect separate contacts from the Utility General Contractor during the course of the project and they will coordinate with residents in the immediate vicinity of work to minimize inconvenience. Water outages will be minimal since the new mains will be placed and tested before the existing mains are removed from service. Specific advance construction or scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance. HDM Boiler Replacement Contract

The Boiler Replacement contract at Hartley Dodge Memorial has been initiated and will continue through August at which point the Borough of Madison will be able to make use of the more efficient heat and hot water systems specified for Borough Hall.

Green Village Rd Paving

The County of Morris intends to begin PAVING operations on Green Village Road (County Route) in on Monday July 22, 2013 and continue for two days, after which the paving project for its' entire length will be completed the following week. Please plan trips accordingly, using Green Ave as a parallel alternate route whenever possible. Specific scheduling concerns can be directed to the County Engineer (or the Municipal Engineer who will coordinate with the County). The road improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary.

Land Use Permit Applications Online

Applications for Municipal Road Opening, Planning Board Site Plan, Subidivision Plan, Zoning Board Variances and Building Department Uniform Construction Permits are available online in each respective department website under the "Forms & Applications" bar in the right column. This improves availability, readability and processing time for both applicants and reviewers.

Green Village Road

Elm Street Road Opening

New Jersey Transit Rail has opened the Elm Street underpass to thru-traffic as of July 3rd and indicated there are a number of punchlist items that remain to be completed over the next two weeks, thereafter the project will be deemed substantially complete. NJT and the Borough thank the affected residents for their patience and cooperation during the construction project.
