RoseNet - The
people and the technology
The RoseNet website is the
product of many people's efforts . Members (ever-changing) of the
RoseNet Technology Committee have planned the evolution of a website
which is only one part of a project aimed at bringing the advantages and
efficiencies of computer technology to all residents of Madison. RoseNet
webmasters past and current, are: Frank Benedict, Hans Friedli, Scott Sawyer, Harriet Ritter
and Bill Medico.
Technology committee chairs have been Woody Kerkeslager,
Ed Rebholz, and currently Sue Carter.
The components of the RoseNet
website, the categories you see on the left-side menu, have their own
webmasters who work to keep each site current and interesting. Those
websites have acknowledgements listed at their respective locations.
RoseNet is more than a website.
It’s a volunteer community project aimed at bringing the efficiencies of
technology to everyone in Madison. Based at the Madison Public
Library, the RoseNet project also provides free access to computers and
the internet. The computers are located inside the adult section and are
available during library hours. They’re part of a planned effort to
assure that any Madison library member can come in and use reasonably
current computer equipment for any legitimate purpose. This resource is
used by individuals and groups who are learning about computers and the
internet from scratch, or by those who find it convenient to do computer
work in a quiet environment.
RoseNet will continue to grow and
expand its services to the residents of Madison. It is technology meant
to serve people of all ages, as well as local businesses, non-profit
organizations, schools, and government. Most of all, RoseNet works to
strengthen our community by bringing information and communication
within everyone’s reach.
