Nature Nuts 2019

Pre-registration Open House will take place on Sunday, June 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Memorial Park Picnic Grove

The Summer Nature Program, sponsored by the Madison Recreation Department and the Madison Parks Advisory Committee, is about to celebrate its 42nd year. For over four decades children have been enjoying the outdoors while learning about their surrounding environment, including plants, animals and even weather patterns.

Children learn in an interactive way that leads them around the trails of Memorial Park, as well as, down the Passaic River. Each week is a different theme with a field trip planned for one day. Past field trips have included the Raptor Trust and the Frelinghuysen Arboretum where transportation is provided by the Madison area YMCA.  "Wonders of Water", "Wacky Weather",  "Animal Adventures" and "Recycle Olympics" have been a few of the themes.

The program runs Monday through Thursday from June 24 through July 25.

The first session from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. is geared for first and second graders. The second session from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. is for third through fifth graders.

It is recommended that youngsters put on sunscreen, wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.

The cost is $35.00 per child/$100.00 max per family for the entire month. Children can register at any point during the program and attend any number of days.
